Armed robbery at Northgate Post Office

This morning there was an armed robbery at the Northgate Post Office, a customer who was at the post office at the time of the incident, contacted MyFourways. He said that three men entered the post office, one man who was armed, kept the firearm slightly hidden and joined the queue, while the other two men jumped over the counter and demanded the staff hand over money.

There were about 10 people in the post office at the time and most didn’t even realise what was happening, the suspects were very calm and did not announce it was a robbery nor did they interact with any of the customers.

The two men jumped back over the counter and all three suspects casually walked out of the post office with the bags of money. They wore plain clothes and did not cover their faces. The whole thing lasted about 40 seconds.

After the suspects left the Post Office alerted the police and locked up to wait for their arrival.

The customer who contracted us left and on his way home he passed a road block, he informed the officers of what had just happened, they had not heard about the robbery nor did they show any interest. “While it may have been a Metro Police road block one would think that they would show more interest”, he said.

Fortunately no one was injured. While police have confirmed the armed robbery we are still awaiting official police comment.
