Potholes

In about May of 2009, I reported a major water leak on Albatross Drive in Fourways to JHB Municipality. This was causing the road to break up and water to gush into the storm water drains.

No action. On a Sunday, I noticed a Joburg Water truck in the vicinity and called them over to have a look at the problem. That same day, our children were coming over for lunch and complained that there was a huge hole in the road with red and white tape around it. I yelled SHOT!!!! of course, they accused me of being the one to always “start” issues. I have no problem with that.

The leak was repaired – however, the tar and the soil (significant amounts), were dumped just off the corner of Albatross and Robin Drives on the pavement of a resident.

Anticipating a follow up by JRA, we waited for a repair to the road, which did not happen. I reported it to JRA, online and received an IR Number, one of several reported over the following months. I am in a position to list all the IR numbers and e-mails between Counselor Denis Hunt and myself, should you require this.

One day last year, I saw a JRA repair truck in the vicinity and once again, called them over. I explained the situation and was informed that as Joburg Water had probably not signed off the job, they could not repair it, catch 22 - or chicken and egg?

As of January 15, 2010, we still has a huge problem that caused people to swerve to miss this ever increasing problem and those who couldn’t swerve, just made the problem worse by driving through it! This section of road no longer needs a “patch” – it needs serious intervention.

The general pothole situation in and around Fourways (residential and commercial), is going to cause major traffic problems as those who are in the know of where they are, will swerve and accidents are going to happen.

How do we get this fixed? Any assistance, advice and intervention, would be greatly appreciated.

Potholes

Good day my fellow concerned Fourways resident.

I know what JRA is all about, hence my blog on myfourways for help and support to fix the massive pothole along Cedar Road. I have got ideas from overseas road guys, but i await support from others.

I feel your pain and understand all your concerns.

Keep positive, in touch and i am sure we as the community will take matters into our own hands when too much gets too much.
