Dennis Road, Lonehill

We just don’t know what to do about our road in Lonehill, a suburb which prides itself on its appearance.

The Lonehill Ratepayers Association charges a monthly amount from the residents and are we getting value for money in this regard, we wonder. Johannesburg Water started laying new water pipes for Lonehill a few months ago which proceed along Dennis Road!

The pipes actually cross over Dennis Road at 45 degrees right in front of our gate, Dennis Road Guesthouse. For a day and well into the evening we were unable to access our property by vehicle and only from one end of Dennis Road.

As a Guesthouse with new guests expected that afternoon it was a slight issue. There were piles of soil heaped against our front wall from the digging of the trenches.

A security issue too, because a good view of our property could be had by someone standing on the heaps and peering over our wall. No sooner were the pipes supposedly laid, than the digging started again, because the joins between the 15m pipes had not yet been sealed, so I was told by the supervisor.

And so it goes on... and on... and we wonder when this is ever going to be completed. This is to say nothing of the mutilated property verges. I think it must be up to the residents to rectify and replant their verges themselves in this beautiful suburb?

We have orange netting at the excavations in Dennis Road and the pressure fluctuates. Last week we even had no water for a day!
It is not great for the guesthouse.

The road still looks like 'work in progress'

Update:

No completion is visible, although there have been some workers around and a few cranes driving along the street.

Some holes have been closed up but the road still looks like 'work in progress'. The contractors are not Jhb Water themselves, but from another company.
